Mark 4:17

And they have no root in themselves , but endure for a while ; then , when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word , immediately they fall away .

But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.

And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time : afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.
